I met lovely Zoë, the More mag stylist at the In Love With Fashion launch party. She said to send her an email if I wanted to get involved with one of the ‘wear it your way’ features. So I did and here I am!
I love any feature (who doesn’t) but there really is something self satisfying about seeing yourself in print. I have my little pile of mag features next to my bed and they are cherished like the crown jewels. I can’t wait to show Eva them when she is older.
5 girls from different professions (The Reader – Natalie Futter, The Radio, BBC 1Xtra DJ – Yasmin Evans, The Singer/Songwriter – Nina Nesbitt, Me – the bloggers and The Dune PR Manager – Claire Cormack) were all asked to style up one dress. It was a gorgeous tapestry dress from Primark SS13 and my jaw literally dropped when I heard where it was from. For £17 you can’t go wrong!
The hair stylist asked what style I would like and I said I like the Lana Del Rey ish retro wave. I started doing it over a year ago which I mentioned in this vintage tea dress post. After 40 minutes and two people on my hair, I felt so bad asking. It looked amazing though! I can’t believe I was going straight home afterwards.
We sat down and had a little interview after the shoot and notes were taken. Although I love vintage clothes, I don’t have that many. I take inspiration from classic and vintage silhouettes and styles with modern clothes. I love retro make-up and hairstyles (especially the retro wave) and will go for that look over anything else…trendy or not. Just saying this in case anyone who knows this blog or visits for the first time wonders where all the vintage clobber is.
Also I did say it would be perfect for dinner and drinks, but I would never say with “my man” *chuckles*- its just not my lingo baby! I don’t know what I call him really. I can’t even bring myself to call him my husband as that’s what serious and old people say! (Peter Pan complex). Maybe ‘the bloke’ or ‘the Saffa’. How romantic of me.
