I love nature and being outdoors – although nature doesn’t love me with my atrocious hay fever this year. I decided to look on the interweb for pretty nature spots in Surrey. I don’t know how I came across it, but about 40 minutes from where I live there is this pond with a sandy bank in Frensham Common.
I called up my little sister Lottie and asked if she would like to come over with her Basset Hound Barney for a little afternoon out. I let Eva’s nursery know she wasn’t coming in and off we went. Please note this is not a style post…I look like the dogs dinner
It would be typical after a week of sunshine that the day we go to the beach it rains (hence the emptiness). It is such a pretty spot though I can imagine it is rammed on hot weekends, although I had no idea it was there.
Have you ever heard of a beach on a pond before?! Its crazy that the coast is roughly 40 miles away. I wouldn’t mind going again when it is hot and sunny – probably during the week though. There is a little beach hut that sells food, drinks and bucket and spades.
I thought I would do the self-timer to get us all in a photo as there was no-one around to ask. Its so cheese, but I love jumping in photos. Its hella fun! So we tried over and over again. We were either too early or too late…
Or my hair was in my face…
So we sat down instead. Wish Barney would cheer up. Not that you can tell with Basset Hounds
We spent a good couple of hours there, including feeding the ducks. Kids are crazy about feeding the ducks, what is that about? It was a really fun day and sometimes the best things in life are free….well apart from the petrol to get there.
I would really recommend going if you are in the area or fancy exploring what Surrey has to offer. Here is a Google map on exactly where it is. If you do go, I wouldn’t bother taking a BBQ. They had fires that damaged the Common so there is now a law prohibiting open fires. Also dogs are not allowed on the sandy areas – poor Barney had to sit tied up while we were on the actual beach. Not that he has much energy in him to run around anyway…its those little legs.
