It was quite bizarre walking into Victoria house from a 30 degree heat to a Christmas winter wonderland. Although I suppose it’s the norm for peeps in the Southern Hemisphere.
Next were showing their Xmas in July press day last Wednesday including a catwalk presentation of winter looks and party season outfits. Celebrity models included Jourdan Dunn and Suki Waterhouse.
Checked and tartan prints were the main theme on the catwalk. Loved the above trousers and the below poncho. Also I was totally inspired by the braided hairstyles. Have worn variations ever since.
Jourdan Dunn looked breathtaking, so stunning and incredibly photogenic. You may be thinking..duh…she is a model! I have photographed a few catwalk shows now and models do get bad shots like the rest of us. Albeit probably less. Jourdan looks fierce in every single one – she owns the catwalk.
Must have the below faux fur coat. Very vintage looking and just proves you don’t need real fur these days…faux fur used to look very synthetic and tacky….but this coat looks real and expensive.
The other celebrity model to strut the catwalk was Suki Waterhouse. Who is really making a name for herself this year..especially after meeting Bradley Cooper at the 2013 ELLE Style Awards and then becoming an item.
Eva who was sitting next to me stated “look mummy, they haven’t got any shoes on”. This part of the presentation was lounge wear and lingerie. Some perfect Christmas gifts.
This is my kind of Christmas party outfit…
Loved the heels on these shoes…
Then a big ‘ahhhhh’ filled the room while some teeny models took to the catwalk….
Seriously loved this dress, looked like it could be Elie Saab!
There was a gothic undertone to the season collection with black netting prom dresses and velvet skirts. Next have put a ladylike spin on the AW13 rebel trend for the party season.
Eva’s first catwalk show…she now keeps asking to see the people show again…future fashionista in training.
After a coffee and a catch-up with Ella from Coco’s Tea Party and the Very Simon G, little Eva and I went to check out the Christmas gifts and home collections….
I was so inspired by the showrooms and I want to make a huge effort for Christmas this year. There seemed to be three main themes…minimalist and contemporary with monochrome and silver shades. There was also a Christmas Romance collection with a vintage feel. Then there was a rustic themed decorations with faux fur rugs and blankets, knitted cushions and woodland animals such as the above stag perched on a chair. I think I will go for the latter approach with my decorating, looks so cosy!
Keep an eye on www.next.co.uk… never too early to start preparing for Christmas. I always leave everything to the last minute and regret it. This year is time for a change!
