Memoir Mode is very centered around Next this week. First with the Next Xmas in July post on Tuesday and now with this store opening entry. The difference is the Xmas post was more fashion and gifting oriented and this post focuses on the HUGE offering Next have in their home and garden department….and I mean huge. I literally got lost a few times making my way around the different showrooms including dining rooms, living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Yes Next do kitchens and bathrooms! I had no idea.
I woke up bright and early to catch the train to Camberley. Eva had to join me again, to be honest I prefer not to take her to press things as I can’t concentrate properly on taking photos and listening to what people are telling me. Sometimes I have to grin and bare it if I have no sitters (or cry inside when she is bombing towards the glassware). Then just hope the organisers invite me again.
We were allowed to visit the store an hour before the opening to walk around with the manager. As I explained before, the Camberley store is absolutely humongous and I believe it is the biggest Next home and Garden in the country. It even has its own Costa Coffee inside. I have only ever been shopping in the high-street Next branches so I was completely unaware they did that much homeware…let alone entire bathrooms and kitchens. I assumed they only sold decorative pieces.
Bloggers doing their thaaang in the garden department…
After we were walked around the departments we were given some free time to get shopping. Next very kindly gave us a £75 voucher to spend in store. I would have loved to get some home pieces, but Eva was hanging off my skirt stating “this bit is boooooring”.
So we made our way to the kids department and she happily picked herself a pair of sandals, a Mickey Mouse tee and a Peppa Pigs drawing toy. I still have some credit left on the voucher so homeware for me at some point soon.
After a good 3/4 hours in the store, we all went for lunch at Wheelers. It was a bit posh and quiet. Thank fully I had stories on my iPhone that Eva sat and watched. The food was absolutely delicious.
Big thanks to Next for inviting me (and gate crasher Eva) along to the grand opening. The staff are incredibly friendly and clearly love working for Next. They must be doing something right as the economic state the country is in…they are one of the only brands opening new stores.
If you are in Surrey or maybe even further afar to pay the Camerley a visit. Definitely enough there to keep you busy. Also for carpet/flooring and DIY shopping; I have found it less intimating and boring than those huge DIY and home-stores. A nicer shopping experience – plus you can slip in a cheeky shoe purchase while you are at it!
