Wednesday I went over to Shoreditch to the Cinderela B studio for festive fun and jewellery making. The plan was to make a piece for myself and one to give away. I have never made a piece of jewellery in my life so I was excited about being shown the techniques and walking away with my very own design.
There was only a handful of bloggers (including Steph) so it was really cosy and the lovely ladies at Cinderela b were more than happy to explain one to one on techniques.
Rachel Jackson, the Cinderela B founder told us how she met a lady in Rio called Cinderela Brancante (the inspiration behind the brand name) – while travelling in Brazil. Cinderela taught her how to make jewellery and she brought a new passion to London and a dream of setting up her own label.
All the pieces are 22 carat gold-plated or silver-plated handmade in the Spitalfields London Studio. There are also swarovski crystal and semi-precious stone pieces.
What I was most interested in was the re-worked pieces. The Cinderela B team hunt down vintage jewellery from flea markets and charity shops. They then take it apart and rework into a modern piece.
So above was the piece I made for myself – I am quite pleased. It was very fiddly, but I got there in the end. It feels boho and summery, but I am sure I will wear it before then.
I would like to say I made you the below piece from my own hands, but I took so long doing mine that I had to catch the train home when I finished. Instead I picked the piece that I based my design around to give-away here – The honey bee lariat necklace.
