I seem to be spending my time between home and Shoreditch lately. North-East London is becoming ‘the’ place to hold fashion based events. Last week I went to Hoxton studios – which was actually were I did one of my very first photoshoots in 2011 for Look Magazine. I won a style competition and was heavily into vintage inspired fashion.
This time it was a blogger based event/photoshoot around the John Lewis February edit. The edit (new proportions) was coincidently full of pieces that I would choose to wear for 2014. Or maybe I am just a bit of a trend whore…
Our task for the evening was to style up 3 looks from the February edit. A photographer was there to capture our finished looks. Closed toe shoes was an absolute must for me as I don’t think I have done anything to them since last summer. A nail technician was there, but I didn’t want to put her through that!
The new proportions trend for ss14 is all about clean, minimal shapes and dynamic cuts. For example the culottes I am wearing in the first look above. I spotted them on the rail from across the room. I knew they would be the basis for one of my looks. I think I am going to be all about the culotte this year! so flattering. I think they are going to be big this year in general. The pair above is from John Lewis own brand – Kin.
I tried to do 3 quite different looks. I would probably add a bit of jewellery to finish them off. I think I should have gone for a smaller size on the pink skirt so it sat higher on the waist.
Do you like anything from the edit?
